- The last big one that hit Maryland was the massive "Great Eastern Brood" (Brood X) in 2004 that went all the way from NY to NC. Mercifully they won't be back until 2021. I don't even remember this current Brood II when it was last here in 1996.

- There are 23 separate broods of cicadas scattered across the eastern U.S. The last REALLY widespread and mega-annoying one was Brood X that "struck" in 2004 (the Great Eastern Brood). Thankfully that one won't reappear until 2021!
